SAN DIEGO, CA - UCLA (14-11) dropped a midweek contest at San Diego State, 5-1 on Tuesday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The game was added to the schedule after both teams had rain outs earlier in the season.
The Aztecs posted three runs in the third inning to start the scoring. A leadoff single from Kyle Floquet started the frame. He was driven in a batter later on the double down the left field line from Jordan Swaydan. Swaydan would then cross home plate himself on a two-run homer by Landon Burt.
Two more San Diego State runs would score in the bottom of the seventh frame to give the Aztecs a 5-0 lead.
Matt Thayer led the Bruins with two hits on the night, including a triple, his third in four games, in the sixth inning.
UCLA will return home for the first time since March 16, when it opens Pac-10 play against top-ranked Stanford this weekend. The Bruins and Cardinal will face-off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
