Kohlloeffel Falls in NCAA Quarters

May 28, 2005

College Station, Texas - UCLA sophomore men's tennis player Benjamin Kohlloeffel fell in the quarterfinals Saturday at the NCAA Singles Championships held at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

Kohlloeffel, a 9-16 seed, lost to Old Dominion's Izak van der Merwe, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Kohlloeffel was looking to become UCLA's first NCAA Singles Champion since current head coach Billy Martin accomplished the feat in 1975.

Sunday's semifinals will feature second-seeded Benedikt Dorsch of Baylor vs. Harvard's Jonathan Chu, and van der Merwe vs. San Diego's Pierrick Ysern.
