Sophomore driver Brett Ormsby was named MPSF Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Bruins to their first MPSF win of the season.
The El Cajon native scored a hat trick to lead UCLA with three goals in its 4-3 conference victory over third-ranked California on Saturday. Ormsby once again led the Bruins with two goals on Sunday in the 7-5 non-conference loss to top-ranked Stanford.
The weekend's matches marked the 22nd and 23rd consecutive matches that Ormsby has scored in, including the last nine matches in 2001. He has only been held scoreless once in his two-year career. (10/27/01 at Stanford).
The honor is the third of Ormsby's career and the second award won by a Bruin this season. Senior goalkeeper Brandon Brooks earned the award on October 7th after leading UCLA to the Nor Cal Tournament Championship.
