WALNUT CREEK, CA - The 2000 All-Pacific-10 Conference Softball Teams were announced on Friday by conference commissioner Tom Hansen, and six Bruins were among the honorees.

Four members of UCLA's team were named to the conference first team, including seniors Julie Marshall and Lyndsey Klein, sophomore pitcher Amanda Freed and freshman speedster Natasha Watley. It is the second career first-team selection for Marshall, while Klein, Freed and Watley make their first career appearances on the conference first team, although Freed earned second-team notice in 1999.

Joining that foursome on the All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention list are senior third baseman Julie Adams and junior pitcher Stephanie Swenson. Adams, the 1996 Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year, has been named All-Pac-10 in all four of her years as a Bruin with one first-team appearance (1996), one second-team appearance (1999), and one additional honorable mention notice (1997).

The Pac-10's Player of the Year honor was captured by Stanford outfielder Jessica Mendoza, while Washington pitcher Jennifer Spediacci was named Pitcher of the Year and her teammate Jenny Topping is the Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year. Arizona's Mike Candrea and Washington's Teresa Wilson share Coach of the Year honors.

The Bruins complete their 2000 regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon at Easton Stadium, with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against the Oregon Ducks. UCLA is currently ranked third in the NFCA/USAToday poll, and is in third place in the Pac-10 standings with a 37-11-1 (12-7 Pac-10) record.
