Bruins to Host Arizona Schools . . .
The No. 11-ranked UCLA women's tennis team (5-2) will play its first two Pac-10 opponents of the season this week, hosting the Arizona schools this Friday and Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins will host No. 40 ASU (1-1) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Action continues on Saturday when No. 47 Arizona (5-2) visits the LATC for a Noon showdown. Neither of this weekend's matches will count towards the Pac-10 standings. Both conference matches will take place when the Bruins travel to Arizona in late March. Live stats for this week's matches can be accessed at UCLA's Official Website: uclabruins.com

UCLA Blanks No. 22 Fresno State, 7-0 . . .
The Bruins had only one match last week, defeating No. 22 Fresno State, 7-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Feb. 12. Despite playing its third-straight match without No. 1 singles and doubles player Daniela Bercek (injury), the Bruins earned their second shutout of the season. Freshman Riza Zalameda stepped into the No. 1 singles position, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory over 80th-ranked Lucia Tallo. She also teamed with Alex McGoodwin in doubles, winning their match at the No. 1 spot, 8-5.

Bruins Remain at No. 11 Nationally . . .
UCLA held the No. 11 spot in this week's ITA Team Rankings released on Feb. 15. The Bruins entered the season ranked No. 4, however fell to No. 11 last week after suffering two losses at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors. Individually, Riza Zalameda is ranked No. 9 in singles and is followed by No. 20 Daniela Bercek, No. 122 Alex McGoodwin and No. 125 Elizabeth Lumpkin. In doubles, Bercek and Zalameda check in at No. 5. New individual rankings will not be released again until Feb. 22.

Lumpkin, Gordon Undefeated in Dual-Match Play . . .
Freshman Elizabeth Lumpkin and junior Laura Gordon are the only two Bruins yet to lose in singles in dual-match play this season. Lumpkin owns a 6-0 record, seeing most of her time at the No. 6 position where she is 5-0. She has also played one match at the No. 5 spot. Gordon, who missed three contests due to injury, is 4-0 in dual matches, posting two wins each at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions. Freshman Riza Zalameda has just one loss, owning a 6-1 record in dual-match play.

Doubles Play . . .
The Bruins have claimed the doubles point in six of seven matches this season. The only team to win it against UCLA was Clemson at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors. Miami is the only team to lose the doubles point against the Bruins and still win the match, as the Hurricanes won four of six singles matches to take a 4-3 win, also at the Indoors.

Tough Road Ahead . . .
UCLA's schedule gets progressively more difficult as the season unfolds. Following this weekend's matchups, the Bruins head to the Bay Area to face top-ranked Stanford and No. 17 Cal. After that, the Bruins have consecutive meetings with No. 12 USC and No. 8 Washington. As if that wasn't enough, one more top-25 non-conference opponent looms on UCLA's schedule, as No. 13 Texas is set to visit the LATC on Mar. 15.

Head Coach Stella Sampras Webster . . .
Stella Sampras Webster is in her ninth season as head coach at UCLA, owning an overall record of 138-79 (.636). In her eight seasons in Westwood, the Bruins have finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Championships seven times, including a trip to the finals in 2004. As a player, Sampras Webster was a four-time All-American at UCLA from 1988-91, capturing the NCAA Doubles title (w/Allyson Cooper) as a freshman in 1988.
