The Bruins take to the road this weekend with a televised match at Oregon and a Pac-10 matchup at Oregon State as UCLA looks to halt a two-match losing skid. Chances for success in Oregon are good, as UCLA has not lost to the Ducks since 1987 and UCLA holds a four-match winning streak over Oregon State, dating back to the 2001 season. Thursday night's match in Eugene, Ore., will be televised live in Southern California on FOX Sports West 2 with Jim Watson and Mike Dodd calling the action. This is the first time since the 1999 season that UCLA has started the season series with Oregon and Oregon State away from home. UCLA was scheduled to play a televised match at Oregon State on Sept. 13, 2001, followed by a Sept. 14 match at Oregon, but the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, postponed those matches to Thanksgiving weekend.

Bruins Fall to USC in Lexus Gauntlet Matchup
UCLA was able to stick with USC for much of the first two games on Friday night at the Lyon Center, but the Bruins were unable to win a game, falling to the two-time defending NCAA Champions by a score of 30-25, 30-26, 30-22. Colby Lyman led the Bruins with 12 kills in the match and was joined in double figures by Brittany Ringel who had 11. Chrissie Zartman led the Bruins with 17 digs, while setter Krystal McFarland added 14 digs in the match.

UCLA vs. Oregon (9-8, 1-6 Pac-10)
The Bruins have not lost to Oregon since the 1987 season and hold a 39-1 all-time record against the Ducks. Within UCLA's 33-match winning streak against the Ducks, UCLA has lost on game to Oregon each of the last three seasons when playing at McArthur Court. The Ducks are coached by Carl Ferreira, who is in his fifth season in Eugene. The Ducks are coming off of weekend losses to Cal and Stanford in the Bay Area. This is the first time since 1999 that the Bruins and Ducks have started the season series in Eugene. The Ducks are playing without their best player, Lauren Westendorf, who tore her ACL on Sept. 24 against Oregon State, and have lost four straight Pac-10 matches entering Thursday's match. Stat Leaders: KILLS- Kelly Russell (201 kills, 3.47/game); ASSISTS- Heather Madison (650, 11.02/game); ACES- Sarah Mason (27, 0.54/game); DIGS- Katie O'Neil (172, 4.30/game); BLOCKS- Karen Waddington (27, 0.90/game).

UCLA vs. Oregon State (8-8, 2-5 Pac-10)
UCLA has won its last four matches against the Beavers, and has an all-time record of 35-2 against Oregon State. The Beavers are coached by Nancy Somera, who is in her sixth year at Oregon State. Last season, the Bruins recorded a 30-20, 29-31, 30-24, 30-24 win on Sept. 26 in Pauley Pavilion and a 30-13, 30-20, 30-24 win in Corvallis. Head Coach Andy Banachowski
In his 38th season on the Bruin bench, UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski remains one of the top coaches in his profession. On Sept. 1, 2001, he became the first collegiate women's volleyball coach in history to record 900 career wins, and is just the second collegiate volleyball coach for either gender to reach that milestone. UCLA men's coach Al Scates, for whom Banachowski was a setter during his collegiate career, posted his 1,000th career win in February, 2000. The first women's volleyball coach to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, MA, Banachowski currently has a career record of 974-249 (.797), and has coached the Bruins to six national championships, including three NCAA titles.
