Columbus, Ohio - UCLA junior men's tennis player Benjamin Kohlloeffel picked up two big wins Friday to advance to the semifinals in singles at the 2005 ITA National Indoor Championships hosted by Ohio State University.
Kohlloeffel, the tournament's No. 4 seed, started the day with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Todd Paul of Wake Forest in the round of 16. He then took a straight-set win over Stanford freshman Matt Bruch, 6-1, 7-5. Bruch was seeded eighth in the tournament.
Awaiting Kohlloeffel in the semifinals is second-seeded John Isner of Georgia, who was a 7-5, 7-6 winner over Notre Dame's Stephen Bass in the quarterfinals. Isner is looking for his second major title in a row after winning last month's ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
