Wes Whisler picked up the fifth All-America honor of his career as he was named to CollegeBaseballInsider.com's first-ever All-American team. Whisler was selected as an honorable mention after being named to the All Pac-10 First Team earlier this month.
The Noblesville, Indiana native finished the season hitting .310 with nine homers and 39 RBI. He led the Bruins with 70 hits. On the mound, Whisler posted a 5.66 ERA in a team-high 82.2 innings of work. Whisler posted a .324 average in conference play with six home runs and 19 RBI. His 5.54 Pac-10 ERA was the lowest among Bruin starters in 50.1 innings. In the field, Whisler put together a perfect conference season, being one of three Bruin starters without an error in Pac-10 play.
This summer, Whisler will return to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League. Last summer, Whisler was named the top prospect out of the league by Baseball America.
