Freshman Kim Vandenberg (Moraga, CA/Campolindo HS) of the UCLA Women's Swimming & Diving Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of Mar. 17-24.
Vandenberg was UCLA's top individual finisher at the NCAA Championships, placing fifth in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:57.15. Her result helped UCLA finish in 11th place overall. Vandenberg also swam the first leg on three Bruin relays, the 200 Free (7th place), 800 Free (9th place) and 400 Free (10th place). In the 400 Free Relay, Vandenberg swam a 51.00 split and helped the Bruins achieve a school record time of 3:19.77. The Bruins also set a school record of 7:14.76 on the 800 Free Relay, with Vandenberg recording a 1:49.07 split. Her split on the 200 Free Relay was 23.33.
This is Vandenberg's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
