The 8th ranked UCLA men's golf team travels to the Cleveland Golf Classic, hosted by USC at North Ranch Country Club, Mar. 3-4.

At their last event, the Bruins won the TaylorMade Big Island Classic at the Waikoloa Resort. The Bruins posted rounds of 283-271-282-836 (-20) to win by two shots over TCU.

The Bruins' victory in Hawaii was their second of the season. They have finished among the Top 5 in every event on their schedule this season.

UCLA will field a team of four juniors, Roy Moon, Steve Conway, Travis Johnson and John Merrick, and one freshman, Spencer Levin.

After a first round 77, Moon improved by 15 shots and fired an eight-under par round of 62 to vault into the top 10. He closed with a three-under par 69 to tie for fourth place and record his third Top 10 finish of the season. Currently, Moon is tied for the team lead with seven rounds in the 60s. He is ranked 73rd among U.S. collegians this week and has improved his stroke average more than six shots since his freshman year. Additionally, Moon's 62 is believed to be the lowest competitive round and the lowest round in relation to par (-8) in UCLA men's golf history.

Conway posted three consecutive rounds of 69 at the TaylorMade Classic to finish in a tie for second place at 207, seven-under par, and record his second Top 10 finish this season. Conway has posted four straight rounds of 69 and is tied for the team lead with a 71.2 stroke average. He is ranked 89th nationally this week and has improved his scoring average three strokes since his freshman season.

Fourth-year junior Johnson ranks fourth on the team with a scoring average of 71.7. He boasts the team's highest percentage of rounds used (93%) and has recorded seven rounds under par and five rounds in the 60s. He has one Top 10 finish and three Top 20 finishes.

Merrick, the 2001 Southern California Amateur champion, tied for 11th place at the TaylorMade event. He ranks fourth on the team with a 72.3 scoring average. Merrick, who earned All-America honors last season by tying for 23rd place at the NCAA Championships, participated in the prestigious Western Refining All-America Classic at El Paso Country Club in November and is among the pool of players being considered for the 2003 Walker Cup in England.

Levin is the Bruins' highest ranked player at 49th. He is tied for the team lead with a 71.2 scoring average, nine rounds under par and three Top 10 finishes. He tied for fifth place in his first collegiate tournament at the Pacific Invitational, and has placed among the Top 20 in five of the six events in which he has participated.
