National Collegiate Championships: The UCLA Bruins (21-9 overall, 6-3 MPSF) finished second at the Southern California Western Regional Qualification Tournament this past weekend, earning an automatic berth to the Collegiate Championships. The Bruins will travel to UC Davis on May 7-9 to try and contend for their fourth straight national title. Last year, the Bruins defeated California 7-3 in the title game.

On Friday, May 7, the fourth-seeded Bruins meet #13 Maryland for a 10:30 am matchup, which will be held at Solono College in Suisun. UCLA currently holds a 4-0 all-time record over the Terrapins, having most recently defeated Maryland 15-1 at last year's National Collegiate Championships.

Further matchups will be determined by the results of Friday's morning games in this round-robin style competition.

Bruin Notes: At the Southern California Western Regional Qualifying Tournament this past weekend, the Bruins went 3-1, finishing second behind top-ranked USC. On Saturday, April 24, UCLA defeated the San Diego State Aztecs 9-6. Six different players tallied points for UCLA. Later that day, UCLA fell to the rival Trojans, recording an 11-1 loss. Senior Katie Tenenbaum (Merced) recorded the Bruins' only goal of the game.

Zivich is currently leading her team with 55 goals. The 5-11 attacker has scored in all but two of UCLA's 30 games this season. This past weekend, she fired in a team-high seven goals. Zivich is followed by sophomore Kristin Guerin (Los Alamitos) who has tallied 30 goals this season. Over the weekend, the 5-6 playmaker notched four points.
