UCLA senior defensive end Dave Ball, the national leader in quarterback sacks, has been named to three more All-America teams.
Ball, the Pacific-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, is currently in Orlando, FL for the ESPN College Football Awards Show and the Football Writers Assn. All-America team celebration.
Tonight, Ball will be announced as a member of the Walter Camp All-America team. In the last two days, he has been named first-team All-American by ESPN.com and SI.com. Previously, he was selected to the All-America teams of the American Football Coaches Assn., the Football Writers Assn. Of America and The Sporting News.
On the year, he leads the nation with a school-record 16.5 sacks. He also ranks fifth (tied) in forced fumbles (0.42 per game) and eighth (tied) in tackles for loss (1.71 per game - 20.5 total).
Ball was named the ABC Chevrolet Defensive Player of the Year on Dec. 6. He was one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Award, presented annually to the nation's top defensive player and one of four finalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award, presented to the nation's top lineman. He is one of six finalists for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award.
