WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA senior centerfielder Stephanie Ramos has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, and Arizona sophomore Alicia Hollowell has been named Pitcher of the Week for February 24- March 1, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Ramos, from Elk Grove, Calif., hit .800 for the week at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, going 8-for-10 with four runs scored, a double, three home runs, six RBI, a 1.800 slugging percentage and .750 on-base percentage. Her totals for hits, HR, RBI, SLG% and OB% led the team for the weekend as the Bruins improved to 16-0 on the year. In UCLA's first game of the weekend against UCSB, Ramos went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. In the second game of the day, she doubled in her first at-bat of the game, then homered in consecutive at-bats in the third and fifth innings before finishing her day at the plate with a walk in the sixth inning. In that game, she finished with a 3-for-3 day with two runs scored, three RBI and a walk. On Sunday, Ramos went 3-for-4 with a home run, her fifth of the season, and two singles.
This is the first weekly honor for Ramos, and the seventh for Hollowell. The award is the 78th all-time for the Bruins, and the 86th honor for the Wildcats.
