Dec. 20, 2004

Senior forward Dijon Thompson (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union HS) of the UCLA Men's Basketball Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 13-19.

Thompson, this week's Pac-10 Player of the Week, scored a career-high 29 points, including 17 in the second half, in leading UCLA to a 81-79 victory over Michigan. He also collected 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and third of his career. Thompson made 12 of his 14 field goal attempts (.857) on the day, including three of four three-point attempts (.750). It was his first game back since injuring his hand against Boston College on Dec. 5, and he played despite 13 stitches in his shooting hand and his index finger taped to his middle finger.

This is Thompson's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
