#2 Men's Soccer Defeats Cal 5-0, Extends Win Streak to Eight

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The second-ranked UCLA men's soccer team extended its winning streak to eight games by defeating MPSF foe California 5-0. UCLA also extended its regular season home victories streak to 25, the second-longest streak in NCAA history.

The Bruins got two goals apiece from junior forward Martin Bruno (Copenhagen, Denmark) and junior midfielder Shea Travis (Detroit, Mich.) and three assists from senior forward Seth George (Mission Viejo, Calif.), who tied his career-high with three assists. George moves into seventh place on UCLA's all-time career points list with 110 and moves to 11th place on UCLA's assist charts with 26.

UCLA scored its first three goals in a span of eight minutes. Bruno started the scoring in the 24th minute, kicking in a loose ball in front of an empty net. Five and a half minutes later, George launched a throw-in to Sasha Victorine (Corona, Calif.). Victorine crossed it to Travis, who headed the ball into the net. Bruno struck again in the 32nd minute with a header from a Carlos Bocanegra (Alta Loma, Calif.) cross.

In the second half, Travis scored his second goal of the game, in the 63rd minute, off an assist from McKinley Tennyson, Jr. (Indianapolis, IN). Gonzalez ended the scoring barrage in the 78th minute, receiving assists from George and Caleb Westbay (Simi Valley, Calif.) UCLA keepers Nick Rimando (Montclair, Calif.) and Kevin Perrault (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) shared the shutout. Rimando made three saves, Perrault one. Cal goalkeeper Doug Brooks saved six of UCLA's 17 shots. UCLA runs its record to 9-1, 2-0 in the MPSF. Cal drops to 4-6, 1-1 in the MPSF.

The Bruins will travel to Irvine Friday, Oct. 16 to take on UC Irvine at 7:00 pm. Cal will host Oregon State on Friday at 4:00 pm.
