Former Bruin Ron Roenicke won his first World Series title as the Anaheim Angels third base coach on Sunday. Roenicke joined World Series MVP Troy Glaus as two Bruins on the championship team.

Roenicke, who played for UCLA during the 1977 season, hit .284 with nine home runs and 40 RBIs while in Westwood. During his seven-year major league career, Roenicke played for such teams as the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.

Both Roenicke and Glaus played under UCLA's head coach Gary Adams, who has placed over 50 players in the major leagues over his tenure.

"I am so proud of both of our former UCLA players," said coach Adams.

"They have both represented us well, both on and off the field."
