March 20, 2005 -- The UCLA Women's Rowing team endured their first lost of the season against USC, a team ranked 14th in the nation. The race, held at the Bruin's Marina Del Rey 2000m course, was part of the Lexus Gauntlet Challenge, which grants the winning team five points towards the school's overall point total. The Bruins finished the dual race with a score of 2, one point behind USC's 3. UCLA recorded wins in the varsity 4+ and the novice 8+, with times of 7:05.7 and 7:02.0.

In the second varsity 8+, UCLA and USC finished in a dead heat with a time of 6:33.4. In the varsity 8+, the Bruins came in 2.6 seconds after the Trojans. For the Lexus Gauntlet challenge, the five points awarded to rowing went to the Trojans.
