Athens, Ga. - UCLA's Daniela Bercek and Lauren Fisher advanced to the doubles final of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships at the University of Georgia Friday, upsetting seventh-seeded Kelly Schmandt/Aleke Tsoubanos of Vanderbilt, 6-3, 6-3.
Bercek and Fisher, unseeded in the 32-team draw, will face Marshall's Jessica Johnson/Ashley Kroh in Saturday's final beginning at 2:30 p.m. (EST). Johnson and Kroh defeated New Mexico's Maja Kovacek/Sandy Lukowski in the other semifinal Friday.
Bercek and Fisher are trying to become the first UCLA team to win an NCAA Doubles title since Keri Phebus and Susie Starrett in 1995. Fisher has been this far before, reaching the final in 2002 with former Bruin MeganBradley.
