The No. 6 UCLA swim and dive team had a strong showing on the second day of the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, GA as several Bruins placed in the top-five in their events.
Leading the way were sophomore Chiemi Yamamoto, junior Katie Arnold and seniors Kim Vandenberg and Eileen Seissen. Vandenberg placed second in the 100 Fly (53.94, "B") and third in the 200 Free (1:47.54, "B"), while Arnold finished fourth in the 100 Back (54.48, "B"). Yamamoto placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:20.65, "B") and Seissen finished fifth in the 100 Breast (1:02.51, "B"). Senior Paige Thompson and junior Sara Clark also posted top-five finishes in the three-meter dive competition as Thompson finished third (296.25) and Clark was fourth (284.00).
Other Bruins with top-10 finishes were - junior Katie Nelson in the 400 IM (4:22.29, "B") and 200 Free (1:50.16, "B"); junior Jeana Fuccillo in the 400 IM (4:23.67); freshman Brittany Hill on 3M (243.90).
In relay action, the 200 Medley Relay of Arnold, Seissen, junior Amy Thurman and freshman Anna Poteete placed third (1:41.07, "B") and the 800 Free Relay of sophomore Katherine Wong, Nelson, sophomore Shannon Hackett and Vandenberg placed fifth (7:25.85).
Competition will conclude on Sunday at the Bulldog Invitational.
