The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was in sixth place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Legends Golf Club in Franklin, TN.
The Bruins posted a first-round score of 290 (+2) and were in sixth place, trailing Vanderbilt by 11 shots. The Commodores came out hot and blistered the course with a nine-under par score of 279. Second-ranked Duke and Georgia were tied for second at 285 (-3), followed by Arizona State at 287 (-1) and Wake Forest at 288 (E).
Individually, freshman Ryann O'Toole led the Bruins with a two-under par score of 70 in her first collegiate round. The San Clemente native birdied two of the last four holes to finish the inward nine in 34. She was tied for seventh place. Sophomore Amie Cochran and junior Hannah Jun were tied for 16th after posting even par scores of 72. Jun eagled the par 5 18th hole. Senior Susie Mathews was tied for 49th at 76 (+4) and freshman Jane Park was tied for 56th place after a 77.
Vanderbilt's Jacqui Concolino and Leibelei Lawrence were tied for first place at 68 (-4).
