Three Bruins Advance At Trans National Championships

Santa Ana Pueblo, NM - In the first day of match play at the Women's Trans National Amateur Championship at Twin Warriors Golf Club, three Bruins won their matches to advance to Thursday's second round.

In the Championship Flight, Bridget Dwyer, the tournament's leading qualifier, won her first round match over Sammy Sue Wilson, 4 up with two holes to play. Gina Umeck defeated Laura McCaslin, 6 and 4, and Melissa Martin downed Carol Semple Thompson in 20 holes. Hana Kim was eliminated by Emily Hendricks, 3 and 2.

Play continues Thursday with the second and third rounds of match play. In second round action, Dwyer will face Seema Sadekar, Umeck will take on Sarah Sasse, and Martin will face Allison Johnson.

In Flight Two, Yvonne Choe defeated Jessie Malcolm one up and will face Marsha Butler in the quarterfinals Thursday.
