UCLA sophomore Brianna Loyear was among the leaders after the first round at the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational at Copper River CC.
Loyear posted a round of even par 72 over the 6,004-yard course in her hometown. She carded rounds of 36-36 and was five strokes out of first place, trailing UC Irvine's Selanee Henderson, who fired a first round 67.
Loyear is competing as an individual in this event. The UCLA women's team will be in action next week at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club.
