Bruins Fall 3-2 In Extra Innings

Fresno State (3-4) posted one run in the top of the tenth inning to which UCLA (3-1) could not answer as the Bruins fell 3-2 at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Christian Vitters knocked in Tom Shannon for the game-winning run in the top of the tenth inning. Shannon reached base after being hit by a pitch and later would steal second.

The Bruins could not muster a rally in the bottom of the frame as Toby Girazian threw a 1-2-3 inning.

Brett McMillan supplied the Bruins' two runs with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was the first for him in 2004.

Bruin starter Bryan Beck was solid on the hill, striking out seven and allowing two runs in 5.2 innings of action.

UCLA will have its first road test of the season as it takes on Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. Junior left-hander Wes Whisler will get the start on the hill. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
