Chrissie Zartman Named UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week

Oct. 25, 2004

Zartman became the Pac-10's all-time digs leader on Friday night at Oregon State, coming up with a critical 25-dig performance against the Beavers with UCLA's starting setter (and second-best digger based on per-game average) Krystal McFarland on the bench with a sprained ankle. Zartman had 13 digs in game one alone, and in a half-length fifth game, she provided four digs as UCLA earned its first game five win of the 2004 season. In Thursday night's victory at Oregon, she posted a 24-dig performance, tallying eight digs in each game of the match.

Zartman, who this week became the first defensive player ever to earn Pac-10 Player of the Week honors, now has 1,708 career digs and a 4.19 per-game career digs average. This past weekend, she averaged 6.12 digs per game, nearly a full dig per-game above her 5.32 average entering the contests.

This is Zartman's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
