No. 3 Bruins Open Busy Week Against USD

Bruins Travel to San Diego, Open Pac-10 Play This Thursday . . .
The No. 3-ranked UCLA women's soccer team has a busy schedule this week, as the Bruins play three matches beginning with San Diego (6-2-3) this Tuesday at Torero Stadium starting at 7:00 p.m. The Bruins own a 7-1-2 advantage in the series and have posted shutouts over the Toreros in the last three meetings. On Thursday, UCLA opens up the Pac-10 season with a 5:00 p.m. match against Washington State (4-6). The Bruins lead that series, 8-1-1, having won eight in a row. Thursday's match is part of a doubleheader with the UCLA men, as they take on New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. The Bruins conclude the busy week with No. 9 Washington (7-2-2) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. UCLA owns a 6-2-1 all-time record against the Huskies, having won the last two meetings.

Swanson's Late-Game Heroics Lifts UCLA over UNLV, 1-0 . . .
UCLA senior forward Sarah-Gayle Swanson scored with just three seconds left in regulation Friday evening in Las Vegas, giving the Bruins a 1-0 victory over UNLV. Iris Mora assisted on the game-winning goal. The 1,664 fans in attendance was the most ever to watch a UNLV women's soccer match, while UCLA was the highest ranked team ever to play at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Bruins outshot the Rebels, 31-3 on the evening.

Bruins Remain at No. 3 Nationally . . .
With top-ranked North Carolina and No. 2 Notre Dame each winning matches over the weekend, UCLA remained at No. 3 for the fourth week in a row according to the NSCAA/adidas Top-25. UCLA also stayed at No. 3 in Soccer America's weekly poll released Monday.

Multi-Dimensional Attack . . .
In the Bruins' six victories this year, six different players have had the game-winning goal in each of those contests. Players with game-winning goals include: Caitlin Ursini (Pepperdine), Kim Devine (St. Mary's), Kendal Billingsley (Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Bristyn Davis (Oakland), Whitney Jones (Duke) and Sarah-Gayle Swanson (UNLV).

Freshman Criscione Minds Bruin Net . . .
Bruin freshman Arianna Criscione came in as a reserve against North Carolina back on Sept. 19 and hasn't been out since. Criscione is 2-0 on the year, posting an 0.58 goals against average in just under 312 minutes of work. She has appeared in six matches, posting her first shutout of the season last Friday in a 1-0 victory over UNLV.

Swanson Climbing Career Charts . . .
Bruin senior Sarah-Gayle Swanson has moved into the top-5 all-time at UCLA in two career categories. With four goals on the year, she has moved up from sixth to fifth in career goals with 29, surpassing Stephanie Rigamat. One more and she will be tied for fourth with Venus James. She also ranks fifth in career points with 69. Swanson currently has eight points on the year (4g, 0a).
