WESTWOOD, Calif. - The UCLA women's water polo program recently signed what many consider to be one of the greatest recruiting classes in school history.
UCLA co-head coaches Adam Krikorian and Guy Baker received letters of intent from three of the top recruits in the nation during the fall signing period. The three signed this year are: Thalia Munro (Santa Barbara, CA/ Santa Barbara HS), Natalie Golda (La Habra, CA/ Rosary HS) and Kristyn Pulver (Villa Park, CA/ Villa Park HS).
All three are three-time All-CIF selections and members of the U.S. National Team practice squad, which Baker serves as head coach for.
- Munro is a member of the USA Junior National Team. She is expected to make a
huge impact on the team when she arrives in Westwood. "She is one of the fastest
high school players out there and one of the best overall defenders," Krikorian
said. "She's really a perfect fit for our program."
- Golda is also a member of the USA Junior National Team and is an All-CIF
selection in both water polo and softball. "Natalie is probably one of the most
physically-gifted athletes there is," Krikorian said. "Her size and her strength
are going to help us in areas that we lack."
- Pulver rounds out the highly acclaimed 2001 recruiting class. An all-CIF selection who has dominated the high school water polo scene with her scoring prowess, her skills will be counted upon next season. "Kristin is a very crafty and knowledgeable player," Krikorian said. "She's been one of the best players in high school since her freshman year.
"All three are going to be impact players for us. We look at these three as being three of the top recruits in the nation and one of our best recruiting classes ever. Guy [Baker] and I are very excited to have these quality individuals in our program."
