The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team won the San Jose State Spartan Invitational Wednesday at the Corral de Tierra Golf Course in Salinas.
The Bruins won by 21 shots with a 54-hole score of 858, six-under par. That score is a school record, breaking the mark UCLA set earlier this season in finishing second at the Stanford Invitational with a score of 859 (-5).
Nevada-Las Vegas placed second at 879, followed by California at 882 and Washington at 892. Fifth-place Stanford had a score of 901.
Individually for the Bruins, junior Charlotte Mayorkas won her second tournament title in three weeks. Mayorkas, a 2003 First-Team All-American, posted rounds of 72-67-72-211 (-6). Senior Krystal Shearer recorded her best collegiate finish by capturing second place at 212 (-4). Shearer played the final 36 holes in six-under par (69-69). Sophomore Susie Mathews finished fourth at 215 (-1) and freshman Hannah Jun tied for eighth place at 220 (+6). Senior Bridget Dwyer tied for 36th at 230.
