First day results (men/women's invitational hammer throw) from the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee T & F Invitational held Thursday-Saturday (April 7-9) at UCLA's historic Drake Stadium.
On Friday (mostly university/open events), field events begin at 11 a.m. and track events at 1:30 p.m. Also on Friday, there is an evening distance carnival, starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday (all invitational events), field events start at 11:45 a.m. and track events at 12:15 p.m.
Bruin junior Andrew Ninow, a JC transfer from American River College, won the men's hammer competition, throwing a lifetime-best 188-10. Ninow's previous best mark of 188-0 came two weeks ago at the Jim Click Shootout (3/26). Fellow Bruin, junior Jake Knight, finished second to Ninow, throwing a season-best 185-4 (previous season-best of 183-4). Boldi Kocsor, who is redshirting his freshman year at UCLA, rounded out the top-three, throwing a lifetime-best 183-2 as an unattached competitor.
