The 14th ranked UCLA women's golf team travels to the Wildcat Invitational, Feb. 24-26, hosted by the University of Arizona at Arizona National Golf Club.

Last season the Bruins finished 10th at this tournament with a 54-hole total of 913.

Head Coach Carrie Leary, whose Bruins have recorded five straight Top 10 finishes this season, will field a team of three juniors and two sophomores. The 18-team field includes eight nationally ranked teams, including No.1 Arizona, No. 6 USC, No. 8 Pepperdine and No. 12 New Mexico.

"This event will give us another chance to improve our ranking," said Leary. "It has a solid field."

The top qualifier for the Bruins this week is sophomore Charlotte Mayorkas, who tied for second place at the Regional Challenge two weeks ago. Mayorkas is tied for the team lead in stroke average at 75.0 and is ranked 22nd among collegians this week.

Junior Melissa Martin is tied with Mayorkas at 75.0 strokes per round, and is ranked 37th nationally after tying for ninth place at the Regional Challenge. Martin has finished among the Top 20 individuals this season in both of her appearances.

Sophomore Yvonne Choe tied for 27th at the Regional Challenge and has finished among the Top 30 in each of the five tournaments in which she has competed this season. At this tournament last season, Choe tied for ninth place-her first career Top 10 finish.

Fourth-year junior Bridget Dwyer has qualified for team competition for the second time this season. She tied for 48th place at the Kent Youel Invitational in November and tied for 33rd at the Regional Challenge, competing as an individual. Dwyer has played in two the U.S. Women's Amateur tournaments.

Junior Krystal Shearer will be making her seventh collegiate appearance looking for her first Top 20 finish. She competed in the Regional Challenge and tied for 42nd place.

Junior Gina Umeck, who boasts the Bruins' best scoring average at 74.7, will participate as an individual competitor. Umeck leads the team this season with four Top 20 finishes. Last season, she tied for 65th place in this event.
