Eric Peterson's women and men's cross country teams will head to Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 13 for the NCAA West Regional Championships. Seven men and seven women will compete on Saturday. The top two teams will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, which are being held Monday, Nov. 22 at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Thirteen teams will be given at-large bids and four individuals not on an already qualified team will automatically qualify for NCAA's.
Two weeks ago, the women finished fourth (102 points) at the Pac-10 Championships., with sophomore Alison Costello, leading the team with a 15th place finish (21:30, 6K). In all, six Bruins placed in the top-25 - Costello, junior Jenna Timinsky (21st, 21:44), freshman Monika Rothenburger (22nd, 21:49), freshman Olga Aulet-Leon (23rd, 21:50) and sophomore Ashley Caldwell (25th, 21:54).
Traveling this weekend are - juniors Allison Hall, Sarah West, and Timinsky, sophomores Caldwell and Costello, and freshmen Aulet-Leon and Rothenburger. Sophomore Emily Haigh will travel as an alternate.
Last season, the women placed second at West Regionals, automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships, where they would finish seventh overall. The women will look to repeat their automatic berth and return to the NCAA Championships.
