UCLA Men's Soccer Team Suffers 4-2 Setback At San Diego

San Diego, Calif. - The sixth-ranked UCLA men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 setback against the University of San Diego at Torero Stadium Thursday night, allowing a season-high four goals in the loss.

UCLA found itself down 1-0 after a goal by Ryan Guy at 16:06 but rebounded immediately with an equalizer by Jonathan Bornstein just 28 seconds later. After taking a pass from Kamani Hill, Bornstein connected on a 12-yard shot off the left post for his fifth goal of the season.

San Diego reclaimed the lead at 35:58 on a breakaway goal by Scott Martin and then increased the lead to 3-1 at 62:58 on a 3o-yard bender by Calle Rendahl. A 12-yard goal by Dustin Guerrero at 68:09 gave San Diego a seemingly insurmountable 4-1 lead.

The Bruins cut the lead in half at 77:03 after Maxwell Griffin intercepted a pass to the goalkeeper and scored from seven yards out, but did not have another shot at the goal.

The Toreros bruised the Bruins with 26 fouls. The Bruins had 16 fouls, 12 coming in the second half. San Diego outshot UCLA by an 11-5 margin. UCLA's Eric Reed had five saves in the contest.

The Bruins (11-4-3) close out the regular season at San Diego State on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 pm.
