Los Angeles - UCLA senior Anne Baghramian qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships last Saturday after scoring 292.80 points to win the three-meter event against San Diego. Baghramian also won the one-meter with a score of 253.42. The Bruins defeated San Diego 182-90 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, which will be held March 9-10 in Federal Way, WA is a qualifying meet for the NCAA Diving Championships. The top finishers in each event at the Zone E meet will have the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Diving Championships on March 15-17, which will be held in Long Island, NY.
Baghramian, a native of Long Beach, CA, competed at the NCAA meet during her sophomore campaign, where she finished 20th on the platform, 28th on the one-meter and 29th on the three-meter.
UCLA's women's swimming and diving team returns to action this Friday and Saturday to host Arizona State and Arizona. The swim portion of the meet on Friday is scheduled to begin at 1 pm while Saturday's meet will begin at noon. Diving on Friday will begin at 11 am at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, while the diving competition on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 10 am at USC's McDonald Swim Center.
