Bruins Drop to 10th after Second Round in Las Vegas

The 11th ranked UCLA men's golf team fell to 10th place after a tough second round in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, hosted by Nevada Las Vegas.

The Bruins ballooned 13 strokes from their first round score and posted a 303 (+15) in the second round. Their two-day total of 593 trailed ninth place New Mexico by a stroke. Host UNLV took the 36-hole lead with a 281 (-7) in the second round for a 575 (-1) total, followed by Oklahoma State and Arizona State at 576 (E), Georgia at 577 (+1) and Wake Forest and Georgia Tech at 580 (+4).

The Bruins' Daniel Im remained among the leaders at 141 (-3), despite posting a 75 (+3) in round two. Im trailed South Carolina's Mark Anderson by three strokes after Anderson posted a 72 (E) on Saturday. Sophomore Peter Campbell posted UCLA's best score of the day, a 71 (-1), and was at 147 (+5). Sophomore Joakim Renstrom, who started the day among the Top 10, fell to 152 as he and freshman Kevin Chappell each posted scores of 80 (+8) and were tied at 156. Senior John Poucher was at 160 after carding a 77.

Final round action continues on Sunday.
