Sophomore forward Iris Mora (Cancun, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres) of the UCLA Women's Soccer Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 2.
Mora tallied eight points on the week, helping No. 3 UCLA to victories over Loyola Marymount and USC. Against LMU on Wednesday, she scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match, pacing the Bruins in a 5-0 victory. She also had an assist on the last goal of the match, giving her five points on the evening.
On Sunday, Mora had a hand in both Bruin goals in a 2-0 victory over crosstown rival USC. She assisted on the first goal of the match, and in doing so, set the UCLA single-season record for assists with 12. She scored UCLA's second goal in the 65th minute of play. Mora's assistance in the victory helped UCLA clinch at least a share of the 2003 Pac-10 title.
Mora currently leads UCLA in scoring with 30 points (9g, 12a).
This is Mora's second UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
