The date of this season's football game between UCLA and Washington State at the Rose Bowl has been changed to December 7, it was announced today. The game will be televised nationally by ABC as part of a tripleheader that day. The network will also televise the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference championship games on December 7. Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Pacific-10 Conference athletic directors, meeting in Phoenix, voted to approve the move of the game to December 7. The game was originally scheduled for November 16.
"UCLA, Washington State and Pac-10 football will all benefit from the national exposure by playing on December 7. On November 16, there was no guarantee the game would be selected for television," said UCLA associate athletic director Marc Dellins.
"In addition, moving the game also gives the team two byes in a 12-game schedule. We will now have a bye prior to our game with USC and will also be off the week prior to the Washington State game."
