UCLA's Matkowski/Rojer Win ITA All-American

Oct. 14, 2001

Stone Mountain, GA - UCLA's unseeded doubles team of Marcin Matkowski and Jean-Julien Rojer upset top-seeded Scott Lipsky and David Martin of Stanford, 8-5 Sunday to claim the doubles title at the ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

With the victory, Matkowski and Rojer become the third UCLA team to win the All-American doubles crown, joining Justin Gimelstob and Srdjan Muskatirovic ('95) and Pat Galbraith and Brian Garrow ('88).

Rojer was scheduled to be in the consolation final on Sunday, however that had to be cancelled due to rain.

The first Intercollegiate Tennis Association national and singles and doubles championships of the 2001-02 season - the ITA Men's All-American Championships - is one of three national collegiate tennis championships of the season.
