Senior center defender Robin Beauregard (Huntington Beach, CA/Marina HS) of the UCLA Women's Water Polo Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 5-11.
Beauregard was selected the NCAA Tournament MVP after leading UCLA to its second NCAA title with a 4-3 win over Stanford on May 11. Beauregard, a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic team, was dominant on both ends of the pool. Offensively, she scored the game-winning goal with 2:50 remaining in the contest, putting UCLA up 4-2. Defensively, she shut down the Cardinal in the second half, making numerous steals and thwarting goal-scoring opportunities. The Bruin defense held Stanford to just one second-half goal after falling behind at halftime, 2-0. Throughout the Tournament, the Beauregard-led defense held its two opponents to just five total goals
This is Beauregard's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
