THIS WEEK -- The UCLA women's rowing team competes at the Head of the Marina and the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.
HEAD OF THE MARINA -- On Saturday, November 6th, the UCLA Women's Rowing team will travel to Marina Del Rey to race in the event hosted by the California Yacht Club. The Bruins will be entering two Varsity Eight Squads, scheduled to compete at 8:45 am, and three Novice Eight Squads, scheduled to compete at 8:20 am. All teams will be racing the 5000 meter course against the clock.
Last season at the Head of the Marina, the Bruin Varsity Eight crews completed the three-mile course with a first place finish and a second place tie with rival California. A time of 18:56:00 allowed the Women's Open Eight crew to finish the race 90 seconds ahead of fellow teammates and California. The three novice teams finished with a first place showing and a two way tie for fifth place.
Newport Autumn Rowing Festival -- On Sunday, November 7th, the UCLA Women's Rowing team travels to Newport Beach to compete at the annual Newport Autumn Rowing Festival. Two Women's Varsity Open Eight crews will be racing at 8:00 am, with one Women's Novice Eight crew racing afterwards at 10:00 am.

Last year at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, the UCLA Varsity Open Eight finished seventh and 13th out of a total of 23 teams. The Women's Novice Eight team captured a first place finish out of 27 teams.
Last Results -- Competing for the first time as an NCAA team at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 23 in Boston, the UCLA Varsity made history and placed first among U.S. Collegiate teams, and fifth overall with a time of 14:06:14. The crew consisted of seniors Jessica Rogers, Elizabeth Felter, Lauren Hamann, and Emina Ong - all fourth year rowers who started their career in 2001. The Head of the Charles Regatta is the world's largest two day rowing event.
Looking Ahead -- On Sunday, November 14th, the UCLA women's rowing team travels to Seattle, Wash. to compete in the Head of the Lake competition. One Women's Varsity Eight crew is scheduled to race.
