UCLA Preseason No. 8 In Women's Div. I Cross Country Poll

UCLA women's cross country team is ranked No. 8 in the U. S. in the preseason poll released Tuesday by FinishLynx and the Women's Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Bruins, coached by Eric Peterson in his 11th season, are the second-highest nationally rated Pac-10 squad, trailing No. 1 Stanford, the defending national champion. Also ranked from the Pac-10 are - No. 16 (tie) Washington and No. 19 Arizona State. California and Washington State received Top 30 votes.

UCLA's women and men's cross country teams are currently in altitude training at Mammoth Lakes. The Bruins' next meet is Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Stanford Invitational.
