UCLA plays its final two regular season home games this weekend as Oregon State and Oregon visit Pauley Pavilion on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. Saturday night's match against the Ducks will be unique in many respects. In a pre-game ceremony, UCLA's five seniors will be honored on Senior Night. Additionally, although the Bruins will play in their normal Sport Court setup in the corner of Pauley Pavilion on Friday night, a 1 pm tip-off for UCLA's mens basketball season opener against Chicago State will force Saturday night's volleyball match to be played on the main Nell and John Wooden Court floor of Pauley Pavilion.

Bruins Lose Heartbreaker to USC; Zartman Digs Record
UCLA suffered a heartbreaking five-game loss to sixth-ranked USC on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion, falling 31-29, 30-28, 23-30, 21-30, 18-16 in a Lexus Gauntlet match. Neither team had an attack percentage over .200 for the match, and digging was the name of the game, as both teams topped the 100-dig plateau, and both teams liberos had more than 35 digs in the match. UCLA senior Chrissie Zartman had a career-high 36 digs in the contest, her third 30-dig match of the season and a mark that sets a new UCLA single-match record.

The Bruins dropped the first two games of the match, hitting under .100 as a team in both games. UCLA was able to rebound to take games three and four, and fought back to take a 14-13 lead in game five of the match, only to squander three match points en route to the 18-16 fifth game loss. Four Bruins had double-figure kills in the match, led by Becky Green with a match-high 20.

UCLA vs. Oregon State (10-14, 4-11 Pac-10)
The Beavers come to Pauley Pavilion having lost their last three matches and 11 of their last 13. The Bruins have won the last five meetings against Oregon State, including a five-game UCLA victory in Corvallis, Ore., on Oct. 22 with reserve setter Tammy Jackson leading UCLA. The Beavers are coached by sixth-year mentor Nancy Somera. Stat Leaders: KILLS- Allison Lawrence (351 kills, 3.90/game); ASSISTS- Desma Stovall (1047, 11.90/game); ACES- Abby Windell (26, 0.29/game); DIGS- Nina Baltimore (337, 3.79/game); BLOCKS- Abby Windell (84, 0.94/game).

UCLA vs. Oregon (9-16, 1-14 Pac-10)
Oregon has lost its last 12 matches and its last 17 games heading into this weekend's scheduled matches. The Ducks have been hit hard by injuries, most notably losing Lauren Westendorf to a knee injury in September. The Ducks are coached by Carl Ferreira, who is in his fifth year in Eugene. UCLA has a 40-1 all-time record against the Ducks, and has won the last 34 meetings. Stat Leaders: KILLS- Kelly Russell (307 kills, 3.84/game); ASSISTS- Heather Madison (902, 10.61/game); ACES- Sarah Mason (30, 0.49/game); DIGS- Katie O'Neil (313, 4.74/game); BLOCKS- Kristen Bitter (61, 0.92/game).

Head Coach Andy Banachowski
In his 38th season on the Bruin bench, UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski remains one of the top coaches in his profession. On Sept. 1, 2001, he became the first collegiate women's volleyball coach in history to record 900 career wins, and is just the second collegiate volleyball coach for either gender to reach that milestone. UCLA men's coach Al Scates, for whom Banachowski was a setter during his collegiate career, posted his 1,000th career win in February, 2000. The first women's volleyball coach to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, MA, Banachowski currently has a career record of 978-253 (.794), and has coached the Bruins to six national championships, including three NCAA titles.
