Ames Earns All-American Honors In Shot Put

The 2002 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Meet is this weekend (March 8-9) in Fayetteville, AR and hosted by the University of Arkansas. The meet is being held at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The meet will conclude on Saturday.

Bruin Men Results from Friday

  • Shot Put (final)- sophomore Dan Ames placed 10th (61-9.50) and junior Scott Wiegand was 15th (60-3.75). Although Ames did not score, he earned All-American honors (top eight Americans). In 2001 Ames also earned All-America honors in the indoor shot put.

  • 200m (qualifying) - Bruin senior Michael Lipscomb, along with Florida junior Taylor Jacobs, were disqualified in heat two and did not advance to the final, held later Friday.


    On Saturday (all finals) Senior Scott Moser in the 35lb. weight throw. In 2001, Moser earned All-American honors in the indoor shot put and the discus and also won the discus at the Pac-10 meet.
