Oct. 8, 1999

Los Angeles - Senior Annica Cooper headlines a total of five UCLA women's tennis players ranked in the top-100 of the pre-season rankings relesed by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Cooper, UCLA's No. 1 player for most of last season, debuts at No. 9 in the nation in singles and No. 2 in doubles with partner Amanda Basica. Cristina Popescu, who was sidelined for most of 1999 with injuries, is UCLA's next highest ranked singles player at No. 14. Next up is Basica, who is at No. 29.

A pair of freshmen round out the group as Sara Walker and Abigail Spears are listed at No. 66 and No. 86 respectively.

Team rankings will be released later in the fall.
