No. 1 Bruins Take Two on the Opening Day of Stanford Invitational

Stanford, CA - The No. 1 ranked UCLA Women's Water Polo team finished the first day of the Stanford Invitational with a perfect 2-0 record after defeating No. 7 California 6-5 in their second game of the day. Earlier in the day the Bruins defeated No. 9 Hawaii 6-2.

UCLA fell behind to Cal early, trailing 3-1 after one. However the Bruins would close the gap in the second period, outscoring Cal 2-1 to make it 4-3 through one half. UCLA would tie the score in the third period at 5-5 and in the fourth would score once to beat the Golden Bears 6-5.

Freshman Molly Cahill scored twice for the Bruins and, with sophomores Katherine Belden, Katie Flanagan and freshmen Kacy Kunkel and Brittney Bowlus each scoring once. Goalkeeper Emily Feher recorded eight saves.
