Bruins Travel To Anteater Invitational

The second-ranked UCLA men's golf team begins play Monday in the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational at the Santa Ana Country Club.

The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes of competition on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

The Bruins, who finished second at the TaylorMade Big Island Classic, have won four tournaments in six appearances this season.

Youth will dominate the Bruins' fivesome this week as Coach O.D. Vincent will field a team of one senior, one sophomore and three freshmen.

Senior Roy Moon will lead the group with a stroke average of 73.5 and a Top 20 finish at The Prestige. Sophomore Breene Murphy will make his fourth appearance and is averaging 76.5.

The three freshmen are Peter Campbell, Chris Heintz and Joakim Renstrom. Campbell is averaging 74.1 in six rounds with one Top 10 finish, Heintz is averaging 73.8 in 12 rounds with two Top 10 finishes, and Renstrom is averaging 73.8 in nine rounds with one Top 20 finish.

Last week, Heintz competed as an amateur in the Buick Open at Torrey Pines and missed the cut by two strokes.
