LOS ANGELES - The times and ticket prices for the NCAA Tennis Regionals to be hosted by UCLA next weekend have been determined. The men's regional will take place Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15. The women's event will be competed on Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16. All six matches of the single-elimination events will be played at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the UCLA campus. Tickets will be sold as one-day passes for $7 adults/$5 students or two-day passes for $12 adults/$8 students.
The No. 1 ranked team in the nation, the UCLA men enter the post-season with a 21-2 overall record and were granted the No. 1 seed in the 64-team field. The Bruins will meet Western Michigan, which owns a 17-9 dual match record, in the opening round at 1:00 pm Friday. The first match of the men's regional features No. 35 Tulsa vs. No. 37 San Diego State at 10:00 am Friday. The men's regional final will be the third match of the day on Saturday and is slated to begin at 3:00 pm.
The No. 7 ranked UCLA women's team brings a 17-7 overall record into the regional and received the No. 8 seeding. The Bruins will also face Western Michigan in the opening round on Saturday at Noon. The first match of the women's regional pits No. 28 South Alabama (14-6) vs. No. 29 Colorado (20-5) and will be competed on Saturday at 9:00 am. The women's regional final will be the only match played on Sunday and begins at Noon.
The NCAA Tennis Championships field was expended to 64-teams this year, meaning all participants will compete in the opening round for the first time. Regionals consists of four teams at 16 sites with winners advancing to the NCAA Team Championships. The Men's NCAA Tennis Championships will be played at the University of Georgia in Athens where the team portion begins Saturday, May 21 and concludes on Tuesday, May 25. The Women's NCAA Tennis Championships will be played at the University of Florida in Gainesville with the team portion running Thursday, May 20 through Sunday, May 23rd.
