UCLA Shuts Out Fresno State 3-0

September 13, 1998

LOS ANGELES - The fifth-ranked UCLA men's soccer team shut out its second consecutive opponent, defeating Fresno State 3-0.

Junior forward Martin Bruno opened scoring early, hitting a rocket into the net 6:40 into the contest. The play was set up by goalkeeper Nick Rimando (Montclair, Calif.), who threw an outlet pass to Tom Poltl down the right sideline. Poltl sent a through ball to Bruno, who put it into the net. It was Fresno State's first goal allowed this season. Senior forward Seth George (Mission Viejo, Calif.) scored his 37th career goal at the 56:10 mark on an assist by defender Carlos Bocanegra (Alta Loma, Calif.). The goal gave George 96 career points, tying him with Tom Silvas for 10th place on UCLA's career scoring list.
