UCLA vs. San Diego - The Bruins (5-1, ranked #3 by Soccer America) will travel South to face the San Diego Toreros (3-4) Friday, Sept. 25 at San Diego's Torero Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm. UCLA leads the overall series 11-2-2 and won the last matchup 3-0 at home in 1997. San Diego's only victories over the Bruins came in the 1992 and 1993 NCAA Tournament. The Toreros in 1998 are led by St. Mary's College senior transfer Devin Ebright, who has scored four goals.

Next Week - Former UCLA standout and assistant coach Paul Krumpe returns to lead his Loyola Marymount squad against his former team on Sunday, Oct. 4. Krumpe, an assistant under UCLA head coach Sigi Schmid from 1995-97, is in his first season as head coach of the Lions. Another former Bruin player, Brian Irvin (1993-96), is a member of Krumpe's staff at Loyola. Krumpe and Irvin have led the Lions to a 3-4 record thus far.

George Hits Century Mark with 101 Career Points - With two goals Sunday, senior forward Seth George (Mission Viejo, Calif.) became just the ninth UCLA player to reach 100 career points. George passed current U.S. National Team member Joe-Max Moore (100 points) for eighth place on UCLA's career points list with 101. George, last week's MPSF Player of the Week and a selection to Soccer America's Team of the Week, has amassed 39 career goals, good for 10th place on UCLA's all-time career goals list. George has scored a goal or assist in every game this season and leads the team with 14 points, an average of 2.3 points per game. He is on pace to score 43 points by the end of the regular season., which would give him 130 career points and place him in UCLA's Top 5.

Bruins Continue Home Winning Streak - UCLA increased its home winning streak to 26 games with two victories last week, the longest active streak in the NCAA. The Bruins' 22 consecutive regular season home victories rank fifth all-time, tying with Saint Louis (1968-1972) and Notre Dame (1977-1978). Tulsa (1988-92) holds the record with 39 consecutive home wins. The Bruins have not dropped a home contest since Sept. 22, 1996 when they lost 2-1 in overtime to California.

Bruin Shutout Streak Continues - Goalkeepers Nick Rimando (Montclair, Calif.) and Kevin Perrault (Palos Verdes, Calif.) have kept five of six opponents scoreless in 1998 and have not allowed a goal in four consecutive games and 391 consecutive minutes. In 1998, Rimando holds a GAA of 0.38 (0.28 career), and Perrault has not allowed a goal in 67 minutes. Dating back to last season, UCLA has shut out 10 of its last 12 opponents.

Victorine Averaging an Assist per Game - Hermann Trophy candidate Sasha Victorine had another big game on Sunday in UCLA's 6-0 win over San Francicso. The junior midfielder from Corona, Calif. recorded two assists and was instrumental in UCLA's domination of the Dons, which could only muster seven shots on goal. Victorine leads the team with five assists and is averaging an assist per game. Victorine's midfield play has helped UCLA outscore its opponents 21-2 and outshoot its opponents 113-48.
