WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-UCLA men's tennis player Tobias Clemens and women's gymnast Yvonne Tousek were selected as 2003-04 Pacific-10 Conference Medal winners, announced Wednesday by Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Clemens (Bonn, Germany) holds the school record for singles victories with 119, playing three seasons at the No. 1 position. He is a three-time All-American and two-time All-District VIII Academic selection. He recently led the Bruins to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships. Clemens has been ranked in the top-10 nationally for much of his career.
Tousek (Cambridge, Ontario) finished her UCLA career with three NCAA team titles, the 2001 NCAA uneven bars championship and nine All-America honors. She was a three-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection and a NACGC Scholastic All-American in 2003. Tousek, a two-time Olympian, scored two perfect 10s in her UCLA career.
A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
The Conference Medal winners will be honored at the State Farm Pride of the Pac-10 Luncheon held in Los Angeles in conjunction with the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament next March.
