Athens, Ga. - UCLA's Daniela Bercek and Lauren Fisher posted a three-set victory in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships Thursday at the University of Georgia. With the win, the duo stands just two matches away from capturing the school's first doubles title since 1995.
Bercek and Fisher, unseeded in the 32-team draw, came from behind to defeat Indiana's Sarah Batty/Linda Tran, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Next up will be a semifinal showdown against seventh-seeded Kelly Schmandt/Aleke Tsoubanos of Vanderbilt on Friday at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
On Wednesday, Bercek and Fisher knocked off North Carolina's Kendal Cline/Aniela Mojzis, 6-1, 7-5 in the round of 16.
The last UCLA team to win an NCAA Doubles crown was Keri Phebus and Susie Starrett in 1995. Fisher has been this far before, reaching the NCAA Final with former Bruin MeganBradley in 2002.
