The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team is in third place after round one of the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Bruins posted a five-under par team score of 283 and trail first place Washington by three shots. In second place is top-ranked Duke at seven-under par 281. California is fourth at one-over par 289, followed by Vanderbilt and New Mexico, which are tied for fifth at 290.
Senior Bridget Dwyer posted a collegiate career best score of 69, three-under par, and is tied for third place. Junior Charlotte Mayorkas and senior Hana Kim posted one-under par 71s and are tied for 14th. Sophomore Susie Mathews and senior Gina Umeck carded even par 72s and are tied for 22nd. Senior Saki Uechi, playing as an individual, is tied for 40th after a 74.
Pepperdine's Carolina Llano fired a five-under par 67 and leads the field by one stroke. Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo is second after posting a 68.
